Patricia Wnek’s Studio

I have been teaching in Northern Virginia and in Gaithersburg at the Academy of Fine Arts for 10 years and am now transitioning to teaching from my home studio in Urbana, MD.

I graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University with Bachelor and Masters degrees in violin performance. I also completed coursework in pedagogy and have over a decade of teaching experience. I perform regularly with professional orchestras in Maryland, Virginia, and D.C.

I use varied methodology in my teaching, and determine curricula and instructional style based on the strengths of each student. I often make use of Suzuki books as well as standard Etude and scale repertoire. I keep my lessons fun and engaging, but do ask that each student put in the necessary practice to improve consistently and reap the many benefits of studying music. I strongly advocate setting up structured, regularly scheduled practice times, which I will help each student set up at the beginning of our studies together. Parental support at home is crucial to maintaining a productive practice schedule. I will gladly provide any needed support to help students build healthy study habits.
